1. Boise State (5-0): With Alabama's loss, the Broncos are now my unanimous #1. I know most people will disagree with me, but the fact of the matter is outside of 'Bama, Boise State is the best team in the land. You have to ask yourself…who would win a game between Boise State and Ohio State? What about Boise State and Oregon? – The answer to both is Boise State… This week: @ San Jose State
2. Ohio State (6-0): Terrelle Pryor made another statement for the Heisman and Jim Tressel picked up his 100th win in scarlet and gray as the Buckeyes romped Indiana 38-10. The big question is why aren't they ranked #1 considering the tough schedule they've faced? – because Boise State is a better team. Simple as that… This week: @ Wisconsin
3. Oregon (6-0): It was just another day at the office for the Ducks as they took care of Washington State 43-23. Quarterback Darron Thomas got knocked out of the game, but no worries – they didn't miss a beat with backup Nate Costa. Plus, it's always good to have LaMichael James on your side. The BCS title is within reach for the Ducks… This week: Bye
4. Alabama (5-1): Despite their loss to South Carolina, Alabama is still the best team in the country talent-wise. The Gamecocks just had a great game plan and caught 'Bama on a bad day. Since the three teams above have been so impressive and remain undefeated, I have to rank them where I did. But at the end of the day, I'd be shocked if the Tide doesn't end up winning the National Championship… This week: Mississippi
5. TCU (6-0): It was the Horned Frogs turn to beat up on Wyoming who they whooped 45-0. The defense has never been a problem, and now Andy Dalton is playing at a consistently high level. If that type of balance keeps up TCU will be real tough to beat… This week: BYU
6. Nebraska (5-0): Taylor Martinez was a one-man show in the 'Huskers 48-13 bashing of Kansas State. He totaled 369 yards (241 of them on the ground) and 5 touchdowns. The schedule will get tougher, but they certainly have a great chance to win the Big 12… This week: Texas
7. Oklahoma (5-0): It was a good week for the Sooners to have a bye. I didn't like how their defense was playing the past few weeks. Some kinks needed to be ironed out. Luckily for them, they were able to address the problems while still being undefeated… This week: Iowa State
8. Auburn (6-0): The Tigers slipped past Kentucky on a field goal as time expired. No, they weren't overly impressive and I had my doubts about whether to rank them this high – but their body of work is stellar and they are an undefeated team. Plus, their win over South Carolina is looking better these days… This week: Arkansas
9. Utah (5-0): One team a lot of people are overlooking is Utah. Ever since their opening night win over Pitt you knew they'd be a force. They made a big statement on Saturday with their 68-27 thrashing of Iowa State on the road. Yes, it was Iowa State, so we can't get carried away – but the Utes are legit. That's for sure… This week: @ Wyoming
10. Michigan State (6-0): The Spartans are another team that made a huge statement on Saturday with their convincing win over rival Michigan at the Big House. I don't feel the pollsters are giving them the credit they deserve. They are without a doubt one of the toughest and most-balanced teams in the country… This week: Illinois
Quick Hit: Flooded for weeks with improper agent dealing allegations, North Carolina finally made a decision. They dismissed DT Marvin Austin from the team for accepting $10,000+ worth of illegal gifts and benefits. They also made WR Greg Little and DE Robert Quinn "permanently ineligible" for similar violations. Little accepted $5,000 worth of illegal gifts and benefits – Quinn $6,500+ worth.
