Carmelo Anthony Doubtful For Knicks-Hornets Friday
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Carmelo Anthony is doubtful to return tonight against the New Orleans Hornets, the Knicks said Friday.
Anthony has missed the last five games with a strained right groin. The team had said he was expected to be sidelined a week or two after he was hurt during a Feb. 6 victory over Utah.
The Knicks hoped Anthony would be available to return this weekend. If he doesn't play Friday, their next game is at home Sunday against Dallas.
Anthony told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Wednesday that he wouldn't return until he's at "100 percent."
Many have wondered how Anthony would fit in with sensation Jeremy Lin at point guard.
"There will be an adjustment process, but we're committed and we're gonna make this thing happen," Lin told WFAN's Boomer & Carton on Thursday. "We're gonna find a way to become even more explosive offensively and I think that's gonna be the exciting part."
Anthony leads the Knicks with 22.3 points per game but has missed eight games with injuries.
Also on Friday, free agent guard J.R. Smith announced on Twitter that he would be signing with the Knicks.
