Carmel Woman Killed By Tractor Trailer On Interstate
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (AP) -- State police say a woman walking along a busy highway in Westchester County was struck and killed shortly after getting out of a car.
Police say Danielle Martinez of Carmel had been riding in a car with a man when the two got into an argument and 26-year-old Martinez exited the vehicle.
Police say they received numerous reports from passing motorists of a woman walking in the northbound lanes of I-684 waving her arms. They say she was struck by the tractor trailer while standing in the right lane.
Police say the driver of the car, 28-year-old Jesse Stocker of Carmel, had unsuccessfully tried to reach Martinez by cell phone after dropping her off by the roadside.
No charges have been filed against Stocker or the truck driver.
