Car Jumps Curb, Kills Elderly Man In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were investigating an early-morning crash in Queens that left one man dead and two people hospitalized Monday.
Police arrived at the scene around 4 a.m. at Queens Plaza North and Crescent Street in Long Island City. They said a 2007 Volkswagen headed east from the Queensboro Bridge crashed into a building and struck a 68-year-old man on the sidewalk outside a hair salon.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, had his arm severed in the crash. He is listed in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital. A 31-year-old female passenger was taken to Cornell Hospital in stable condition.
"It was a horror movie, pools of blood running onto the street," resident Yama Dastagirzada, who called 911, told the Daily News. "I saw one man face down in the sidewalk. He was wearing all black. He wasn't moving."
The beauty parlor and a neighboring restaurant were damaged in the crash.
"Everything is gone," Tony Espinal, owner of Espinal's Caribbean Restaurant II, told 1010 WINS' Al Jones.
The investigation is ongoing.
