Car Slams Into Pedestrians At Newark Gas Station
NEWARK, N.J. (CBS 2) -- An out-of-control car slammed into two pedestrians at a Newark gas station Thursday morning, Christine Sloan reports.
Witnesses said the driver of a BMW mowed down a couple that runs a food truck.
The accident happened at North 6th Street and Park Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
CBS 2HD obtained video of the incident which shows the BMW pulling into the gas station.
The vehicle apparently struck the man running the truck, circled back, went through the gas station again, and hit the woman running the truck.
Witnesses said the car slammed into a van that was parked on the street, and that when the driver got out. She said she lost control of the car.
"I saw the black BMW was coming this way, run into the edge of the truck, hit the lady and the guy, and the guy fell," said Ali Faiz. "She was coming the way around the same way, twice, and hit them again, and then she ran into the truck."
All three were taken to University Hospital.
Witnesses who know the couple said they were running the food truck for almost 10 years.
