Car Belonging To New Square Arson Victim Aron Rottenberg Set On Fire
NEW SQUARE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A dissident member of a Hasidic Jewish community in Rockland County who was burned in an arson attack last May has been victimized again. This time his car was set on fire.
The Journal News reports Aron Rottenberg's car was set on fire Thursday night in New Square. There were no injuries.
Rottenberg was severely burned with a firebomb outside his home in New Square on May 22. Shaul Spitzer, 18, pleaded guilty in February to first-degree assault in connection with the attack.
Rottenberg's family said that Spitzer was acting at the direction of the village's chief rabbi, David Twersky, because Rottenberg had stopped praying at Twersky's synagogue.
The rabbi has denied involvement.
Ramapo police tell the Journal News that Rottenberg does not believe Thursday's arson was related to the earlier attack.
