Capuano Trades Blue And Orange For Dodgers Blue

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Left-hander Chris Capuano and the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed Friday to a $10 million, two-year contract.

Capuano will get $3 million next year and $6 million in 2013. The deal includes a $6 million mutual option for 2014 with a $1 million buyout, and he can earn an additional $500,000 a year in bonuses based on innings.

After recovering from elbow-ligament replacement surgery, the 34-year-old was 11-12 with a 4.55 ERA for the New York Mets this year, striking 168 in 186 innings over 31 starts. He had a $1.5 million base salary and earned an additional $2,425,000 in performance bonuses.

Capuano has 57-64 record with a 4.39 ERA in seven big league seasons for Arizona, Milwaukee and the Mets.

His biggest success came in 2005 and 2006 with the Brewers. He won a career-best 18 games in 2005 and had a 3.99 ERA while making a career-high 35 starts. The following year, Capuano went 11-12 with a 4.03 ERA and made the NL All-Star team.
