Police: Man Raped Woman Behind Building In Canarsie, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police continued to search late Tuesday for a suspect in the rape of a woman in Canarsie, Brooklyn this past weekend.
Around 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, the 19-year-old woman was walking south on Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn when a man came up to her, said he had a gun, and threatened to rape her, police said. He never displayed a gun, according to police sources.
He pulled her into the back of the building at 1911 Rockaway Pkwy. and raped her, police said.
The suspect then ran north on Rockaway Parkway, while the woman was taken to Kings County Hospital Center where she was treated and released, police said.
Police sources told CBS2 the suspect threatened another woman and claimed he had a gun on Rockaway Parkway 90 minutes earlier. In that incident, the woman ran away and was not hurt, sources said.
The suspect was described as a black male with a medium complexion, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds, wearing blue and white Hawaiian shorts and a white tank top, police said.
Police have released a sketch and a surveillance video.
