'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro Opens New Location In New York City
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The "Cake Boss" has opened a new shop in New York City. Buddy Valastro cut the ribbon on the new Cake Boss Cafe at 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue on Wednesday morning.
"I know it's called a cafe, but it's really a bakery," Valastro told 1010 WINS. "There's everything from a lobster tail, to a canoli, to a cupcake. You could buy your birthday cake in there, your wedding cake."
Valastro said customers can expect the same high-quality baked goods that they get at his Hoboken location.
"When people come from all over the city or from all over the world I think they're going to appreciate the love and quality that we put into the baked goods because we're still doing it the old-fashioned way," Valastro said.
However, customers will see a difference in prices.
"Prices are a little bit more than Hoboken but not significantly more just due to the fact of Hoboken rent versus Times Square rent," Valastro said.
Valastro owns Carlo's Bakery on Washington Street in Hoboken where TLC's "Cake Boss" is filmed. He also opened another store in Ridgewood earlier this year.
