An entire shopping center with nearly a dozen businesses will be eliminated to make way for a new transportation hub in downtown Wyandanch.
It has some business owners crying foul, but many residents and shoppers say that is the price of progress.
"I will love to see progress here. It's past due. It's overdue. It's a long time coming," says one man.
In the meantime, town officials are promising to do all they can to help relocate displaced businesses, saying the $65-million project is critical to the future of Wyandanch.
