Brooklyn Stepfather Charged With Murder In Canarsie Beating Death
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The stepfather accused of beating his 18-year-old stepdaughter to death with a hammer in Brooklyn Thursday has been charged with murder.
Lakeshia Seymour was found unconscious and suffering from severe head trauma in front of her house at 1457 E. 102nd St in Canarsie.
Authorities said 53-year-old Jean Simon fled the scene Thursday afternoon. He was apprehended by police after his car overturned on the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens.
Police said they were not chasing the man when he crashed. Officers found the man hiding in heavy brush next to a cemetery at Cypress Avenue and Vermont Place.
