Husband, Wife Stabbed To Death In Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A husband and wife were stabbed to death Wednesday night in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn.
Police officers responded to a 911 call about a robbery at 263 Winthrop Street and found the victims with multiple stab wounds.
"I was going to the store and looked. And then they said that this couple got killed and stabbed up in the house," one neighbor told CBS2's Valerie Castro.
"Very, very, very sad. I'm surprised. It's unbelievable. It's kind of somewhat frightening," a man added.
"It was chaotic," another woman said.
One woman said she saw the 65-year-old man on the ground outside before police arrived. He was rushed to NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County, where he was later pronounced dead.
"Yeah I was really shocked. He wasn't moving. There was groceries strewn on the side," she said.
The victims have been identified as Stephenson Bonaparte and his 59-year-old wife, Hazel Brown, who was stabbed to death inside the home.
Distraught family members arrived to see police at the scene.
"Oh yeah, he wanted to go in, he wanted to see what was happening. I don't know who he is or what the relationship is to the people who were hurt," the woman added.
Police sources told CBS2 robbery is a possible motive. The couple owns a small business.
Neighbors said it's a close-knit street, known for throwing block parties in the summer.
"Very nice community. They were very nice, you know, like family – the whole block," said one woman.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.
