Brooklyn Man Convicted Of Raping, Torturing Former Girlfriend
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Brooklyn man has been convicted in the brutal rape and torture of a former girlfriend who he held captive for three days.
Alex Anselmo, of Clinton Hill, was convicted on Wednesday of kidnapping, rape, burglary and other charges, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors said the 31-year-old pushed his way into the victim's home in Bedford-Stuyvesant on April 1, 2013 and handcuffed her to a bed where she remained for three days.
Anselmo repeatedly raped and sodomized the victim, cut her feet with a knife, beat her with a dumbbell and shaved off her hair while her 2-year-old daughter was in the next room, prosecutors said.
A neighbor who became suspicious eventually called police.
Anselmo faces up to 50 years to life in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 1.
