Brooklyn Man Assaulted In Possible Hate Crime
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Three Hispanic men are facing hate crime charges after allegedly beating up a black man in Brooklyn, officials said.
Miquel Perez, 28, Jose Perez, 23, and Christopher Nerry, 32 confronted the 21-year-old victim as he was riding a kick-powered scooter down Flatbush Avenue near Glenwood Road, cops said. According to police, the trio demanded the scooter, but the victim refused. Miquel Perez then allegedly punched the victim, and Jose Perez and Nerry allegedly knocked the victim to the ground.
They are also accused of using racial slurs and stealing the scooter, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.
The New York Daily News reported that all three suspects are part of the violent gang MS-13.
