Brooklyn, Harlem Community Leaders To Ask For Help In Solving Two Fatal Shootings
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Community leaders and advocates against gun violence are coming together today to ask for the public's help in solving two deadly shootings in Brooklyn and Harlem.
The first happened on Weirfield Street and Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn last Thursday.
Police say 23-year-old Sarafina French, a 21-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were found shot around 10:45 p.m. on September 8.
French, who was shot once in the back, was taken to the hospital where she later died.
The two other victims were also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Monday morning, officials from Brooklyn and Harlem will be coming together to call for information in this and another shooting that happened Sunday at a Harlem apartment building.
Police say 18-year-old basketball star Tayshana Murphy was shot in the head and killed at the Grant Houses.
"Enough is enough," said the Urban Community Council's Tony Herbert in a statement. "We as leaders and the men in our community have to set the tone that we will no longer tolerate this kind of violence on housing grounds or anywhere else."
No arrests have been made in either case and the investigations are still ongoing.
