Source To CBS2: Suspect Identified In Fight That Injured 3-Year-Old
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 3-year-old boy was the unintended target of a bottle thrown during some sort of dispute in Brooklyn, and sources say they've identified a suspect.
It all started when a fight broke out inside a deli on 60th Street and Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park.
The fight then spilled out onto the sidewalk and a man tried to throw a bottle at another individual, but missed, hitting the small child instead, CBS2's Steve Langford reported.
"Somebody try to hit somebody with a bottle, then they hit the baby on his forehead," one witness said.
According a source, that somebody is 23-year-old Jorge Cayetano.
The child's condition was not released, but witnesses said he did not appear to be grievously injured.
The little boy's extended family was still at the scene after he was rushed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center.
"I feel bad when I see the baby with his mommy," a witness said. "It's very bad."
Neighbors said the suspect often hangs out in the area and causes trouble.
"All the time the guy is fighting over here and over here," Oswaldo Urjeles said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are focusing on a building across the street from the scene, where neighbors say the suspect may live, Langford reported.
No arrests have been made.
