The stadium's bleacher section will be renamed "The BOW-WOW Zone" for the night and will be reserved for fans who bring your pooch to the game, Cyclones spokesman Gary Perone tells 1010 WINS.
"We'll have a cooling station for the dogs with water bowls and a doggie expo, where local merchants will be showing off their wares," said Perone.
In addition, you'll be able to check out animals from the Brooklyn based Sean Casey Animal Rescue, which is one of the Mayor's Alliance participating organizations.
"About four years ago, we formed a relationship with the Mayor's Alliance to put out the word about rescue dogs in animal shelters," said Perone.
He says the idea is to go back into the community, invite fans with their four-legged friends and share the message of the Mayor's Alliance at the same time.
The adoption event will be held outside the park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature both dogs and cats.
Fans are also invited to take part in a pre-game puppy parade around the field, be among the guests at a doggy wedding courtesy of Canine Celebration, and watch Maddie, the Mayor's Alliance mascot, toss the ceremonial first pitch.
There will also be a special performance by the Disc Dogs, a talented trio of frisbee-chasing canines, who'll put on 90-second action-packed demonstrations between several of the innings.
The Disc Dogs include border collies Java and Moshi and Santiago, a 2-year old pit bull rescued by the Animal Farm Foundation after he was found wandering the streets of Poughkeepsie.
According to Disc Dog handler Erich Steffenson, Santiago's favorite things are playing frisbee and meeting kids after shows. Since being rescued, he's become both an ambassador for pit bulls as well as a supermodel, appearing in the upcoming Lands End holiday catalog.
Tickets are $10 and include one person and up to two dogs with seating in the bleacher section. In addition, a portion of the ticket sales for field box seats purchased on Aug. 21, 22 and 23 will be donated to the Mayor's Alliance.
To purchase tickets in advance, call (718) 382-2604. On the day of the game, purchase tickets at the Cyclones' box office.
