Parents Converge At Annual Brooklyn Baby And Family Expo

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Parents want the best for their children and that's why dozens of them converged at the Annual Brooklyn Baby and Family Expo in Industry City.

CBS2's Magdalena Doris explored the expo and even got a taste of what the vendors have to offer.

Kerene Hibbert stopped by the expo with her newborn Liam, with diaper changes on her mind.

"It's better than the diaper genie because they keep the odor in," she said.

For prospective parents here, it seems organic is the way to go.

"It's scary to think about what you used to be putting on your kids ten years ago," one parent said.  "There's so many products with extra additives in it in the stores."

Naturally, the market for organic baby food is booming. Parents can also find body products designed with transparency in mind.

"We made the unique labels that show exactly what's in the product, where its from and what purpose it serves," Ayo Hart, of Dolphin Organics, said.

For parents of finicky sleepers, Dr. Janet Kennedy has tips from her book..

"What you want to look for are the more subtle signs that the baby is getting tired, like the first yawn or the baby is getting sort of spaced out," she said.

And for those tackling potty training, there's even a display featuring one of a kind stickers.

"A picture comes up and they are excited to use the potty again and again," Nina Nsilo-Swai, of Pee-Kaboo, said.

In an ever-changing market, the baby and family expo gives parents the upper-hand on finding the best for their kids.
