NYPD: Man Wanted In Robberies Of 3 Women In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have identified a man wanted for a series of robberies targeting women over 60 in the Bronx this month.
Gilrael Ruperto, 26, has struck at least three times since Nov. 8, police said
In the first incident, police said he robbed a 68-year-old woman at knifepoint on the third-floor landing of an apartment building on East 156th Street. He took her purse containing $500 and fled, police said.
A week later, police said he threw a 64-year-old woman to the ground as she got off an elevator on the ninth floor of an East 153rd Street apartment building. The suspect then sprayed her in the face with an unknown liquid and punched her repeatedly, police said. He ran off with her purse, which contained $50 in cash and a smartphone, police said.
On Nov. 17, police said Ruperto sprayed a 72-year-old woman in the face with an unknown substance and then threw her to the ground before fleeing with her purse. It happened as the victim exited the elevator on the seventh floor of her building on East 137th Street.
