Bronx Man Charged In Albany Police Standoff
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- A 38-year-old Bronx man is charged with burglary, kidnapping and criminal possession of a weapon after a 15-hour hostage standoff that ended with the suspect being shot five times by state troopers.
Isaac Peterson was released Monday from Albany Medical Center, where he was treated for gunshot wounds, and arraigned before Albany City Court Judge Thomas Keefe. He was sent to the county jail without bail.
Police allege Peterson pointed a .38-caliber revolver at them before they opened fire. He's accused of taking a woman, her boyfriend and two children hostage Thursday evening after a botched robbery.
Peterson, who was appointed a public defender, told reporters as he left court Monday evening that he apologizes to the hostages and that he was "being set up."
