Bronx Killer Finally Sentenced After 25 Years
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Bronx man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a woman and her 9-year-old daughter more than 25 years ago.
Robert Fleming, 49, was sentenced after being convicted in July on two counts of murder following a four-week trial, the Bronx District Attorney's Office said. He received two consecutive terms of 25 years to life in prison and won't be eligible for parole until he has served at least 50 years.
Fleming strangled and sexually assaulted 27-year-old Selina Cooper and her daughter, Joi Little, in their Bronx apartment in 1988, authorities said. Fleming and Cooper had dated.
DNA evidence finally led to Fleming's arrest in 2009, following years of investigative work by cold case detectives.
