Woman Charged In Shooting That Killed Bronx Man, 19; 3 Men Sought For Questioning

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested and charged one woman in connection with a shooting that killed a 19-year-old man in the Bronx this past weekend, and investigators were also seeking three men for questioning late Tuesday.

Kayla Moreno, 20, of the Bronx, was charged with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon in the Sunday shooting that killed Jose Hart, police said.

Police also released surveillance photos and video of three men who are wanted for questioning in the incident. They allegedly entered the building where Hart lives around 3:10 a.m. Saturday and then fled in an unknown direction.

Police were called at 12:33 p.m. Sunday after Hart was shot inside a first-floor on Southern Boulevard near Westchester Avenue in the Foxhurst section of the Bronx, the NYPD said. Police told CBS2 Hart's mother found him in his bedroom.

Hart was unconscious and unresponsive with gunshots to the torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends told CBS2's Brian Conybeare on Sunday that Hart's father was recently killed in a motorcycle crash. Now, his mother has to plan another funeral.

Police said there was no information about anyone who heard the gunshots, but shell casings were found in the room with the body.

Anyone with information on the man being sought was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or (888) 57-PISTA for Spanish, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
