Caught On Video: Teen Rips Off Woman's Purse As She Sits With Grandson On Bronx Bus
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were searching for a suspect who ripped off a woman's purse as she rode a city bus with her grandson in the Bronx last month.
The 53-year-old woman was seated with her grandson in her lap on a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus at Commonwealth and East Tremont avenues around 7:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, police said. The suspect snatched her purse from around her arm, police said.
The suspect then got off the bus and ran south on Commonwealth Avenue, police said.
The suspect was described as a teenage boy about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, a black T-shirt and black pants and carrying a multi-colored bookbag.
Police have released surveillance video showing the suspect grabbing the woman's purse just after the doors open on the bus, and running out afterward.
