Bronx Assemblyman Eric Stevenson Presents Almost $6,000 To Lloyd Morgan's Family
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Bronx community where four-year-old Lloyd Morgan lived and died has stepped up to the plate.
Bronx Assemblyman Eric Stevenson told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria that an anonymous donor is paying for the child's funeral, and others have donated whatever they can. And to add his two cents, he's presenting the youngster's family with almost $6,000.

He added that the senseless violence has also galvanized the neighborhood surrounding the Forest Houses.
"We have to take responsibility in our own communities, and patrol our own communities," Stevenson said. "We don't see the police enough in our communities until these tragedies happen. We don't see enough of them on foot patrol."
The child was killed by a stray bullet from a shooting at a charity basketball tournament.
"The community has come together, in some sense, behind this," Stevenson said. "A lot of the parents are really fed up, and those who were afraid to speak up are now coming forth to speak up because we now have a coalition of many people."
17-year-old Rondell Pinkerton has been charged with Morgan's murder, and a second man faces gun-possession charges.
It's truly inspiring how this community has stepped up in light of this horrific tragedy. Sound off with your thoughts and comments below...
