Broken Rail Shuts Down No. 1 Subway In Upper Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The No. 1 subway line was shut down in Upper Manhattan on Monday night, after a rail broke at 157th Street.
The broken rail was in the southbound direction, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The line was shut down between the 168th Street station in Washington Heights and the 137th Street stop near City College. The shutdown affected trains in both directions.
MTA crews were on the scene examining the situation as of 11 p.m.
It was not known late Monday if the derailment would affect the Tuesday morning commute.
