LISTEN: Brian Billick Talks Quarterbacks Entering Week 1
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Could the Minnesota Vikings actually be better off this season after losing their starting quarterback to a horrific knee injury?
Former NFL coach and analyst Brian Billick said Wednesday he believes the newly acquired Sam Bradford might lead Minnesota deeper into the postseason than Teddy Bridgewater would have.
"I think the Minnesota Vikings are a playoff-caliber, Super Bowl-caliber team," Billick said in his weekly segment on Mike Francesa's WFAN show. "And I think, as much as I like Bridgewater and what he was doing, he's still kind of on the come. I think they may end up being better with Bradford than they were with Bridgewater.
"He (Bradford) is going to go to a team that's playing great defense. He can turn around and hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson. He doesn't have to be a 600-throw guy. He can be a sub-500-throw guy with the way they've play defense and run the ball."

Heading into Week 1, Francesa asked Billick about several quarterbacks, including Eagles rookie Carson Wentz, who will be thrust into the starting lineup after Philadelphia shipped Bradford to Minnesota.
"I think they're going with the idea that, 'Look, we're going to be a better team a year from now with Carson Wentz playing for us every snap he possibly can get,'" the Super Bowl-winning coach said. "I think it's a smart move on their part."
