The sounds of waterfalls and tropical birds drown out the rumble of subway trains and car horns at Herald Square as hundreds of thousands of plants and flowers create a Brazilian Garden of Paradise.
With the flagship store going through a major renovation, the springtime tradition was moved into an outdoor tent.
"That little flower over there smells amazing," said Jill Mopis from Warren Township, who said her friends came all the way from Maine to the annual flower show. "I don't what it is, but it's great.
Macy's spokeswoman Elina Kazan says out of the thousands of plants and flowers on display, there's one big show stopper.
"You have to have your picture taken by the toucan," she said. "It has Brazilian button flowers that are all dried that cover the beak and it is just stunning."
The show runs until April 7. For more information, click here.
