Bratton 'Disturbed' By Alleged Actions Of NYPD Detective Charged With DWI
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said he is "disturbed" about the alleged actions of an NYPD detective who was arrested on a drunk driving charge after authorities said he accidentally shot his partner in the wrist.
Det. Jay Poggi had taken out his revolver to show his partner the weapon's hammer when it discharged, authorities said. It happened inside a car in the Howard Beach neighborhood of Queens just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

The 58-year-old Poggi drove his partner, Det. Matthew Sullivan, to Jamaica Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Prosecutors said Poggi was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test. They said he later refused to take a Breathalyzer test and has been suspended without pay.
"I am very concerned and very disturbed about the actions of those two detectives who were supposedly on duty and working and it appeared to be anything but that," Bratton told WCBS 880's Rich Lamb.
Poggi was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on June 16.
