Boyfriend Charged In Death Of L.I. Woman
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York man is being held without bail in the shooting death of his girlfriend.
Joseph DeFelice, 31, was arraigned Friday in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on charges of intentional murder, criminal facilitation and hindering prosecution. Prosecutors say DeFelice, who has pleaded not guilty, provided a 12-page statement to police implicating himself in the death of Mandy Jo Jenkins, of West Babylon.
The badly decomposed remains of the 32-year-old woman -- who was killed Aug. 23 -- were found Oct. 4 near Long Island Rail Road tracks in North Lindenhurst.
Prosecutors declined to discuss details of the killing, citing an ongoing investigation.
A court-appointed attorney for DeFelice did not immediately return a call seeking comment. DeFelice is due back in court on Nov. 22.
