Police: 10-Year-Old Mugs Another Child For $7
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police said they arrested a 10-year-old suburban New York boy after some playful roughhousing got out of hand and turned into a mugging.
The fight happened just after 6 p.m. Wednesday at a New Rochelle park.
Police Capt. Joseph Schaller says the two boys, both 10, were play-fighting when things turned rough.
One of them made a comment about getting a knife. According to police, the other boy tried to walk away, but the other child followed him and demanded $7. Schaller says that when the boy refused, he was punched in the face.
Police were called after the alleged victim told his mother what happened.
Police charged the boy Thursday with felony robbery. Because of his age, the matter will be handled in Family Court.
