Boy, 13, Struck And Critically Injured By Van In Fort Greene
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 13-year-old boy was struck and critically injured by a van Wednesday in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway overpass.
At 6:44 a.m., the boy was crossing from the south side of Park Avenue to the north between parked cars near Cumberland Street, police said. Park Avenue at that point runs in two segments on either side of the expressway overpass.
As the boy crossed the street, he was struck by a 2008 Ford van that was headed east on Park Avenue, police said.
The driver of the van remained at the scene, while the boy was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, police said.
No criminality is suspected. The NYPD Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Squad was investigating Wednesday evening.
