Boston In Mind For Participants Of Walk For Women's Cancer Counseling
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The EIF Revlon Run/Walk on Saturday morning raised money for women's cancer counseling, but many participants had the Boston Marathon on their mind.
As 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported, some 20,000 women and men participated in the race, and most, like Simone, were not worried about security at all. They were more concerned about fighting cancer.

"You can step out your door and something can happen," Simone said. "You can develop breast cancer, like my mom did, and die a month or two later."
Of course, security was, in fact, a concern for organizers. Everyone was encouraged to leave their backpacks at home and put their personal belongings in clear plastic bags.
There was an incredible police presence with bomb-sniffing dogs, as well as private security, and everyone was encouraged to look out for everyone else.
The EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women was scheduled to take place from 6 a.m. to noon, starting at 48th Street and Broadway.
