Boomer Mourns Friend, Teammate Killed By Falling Tree During Sandy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- WFAN co-host Boomer Esiason struggled to keep his composure Tuesday as he discussed the loss of a friend and hockey teammate due to Superstorm Sandy.
John Miller -- better known as Jack -- was killed in his driveway on Monday night by a falling tree, Suffolk County police said.
Miller was evacuating his family from their Lloyd Harbor home when the tree fell, Boomer said. The 39-year-old was Esiason's teammate on the Long Island WASPS, an adult men's hockey league club.
"For those guys that are out there, that are listening to us right now -- I sent out an email to all of my teammates and everything else -- it is, in fact, Jack, and certainly I'm stunned and saddened by the news," said Boomer.

Miller's wife and two children were unharmed, police said.
A shaken-up Esiason said the WASPS would be there for the Miller family "100 percent."
"The interesting thing about Jack is that I was always on him constantly about being able to receive passes," said Boomer. "And I don't know how many sets of sticks he went through, I don't know how many times he would come to me, he says, 'I'm really working hard on this, coach.' I mean, he and I took it probably overly serious, and he always took my criticisms really serious.
"I mean, this is just a heartbreaking story right now."
