Boomer Esiason: Broncos, Time To End The Tim Tebow Experiment
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Well, fans in Denver got their wish.
And in his second start, Tim Tebow got flat-out rocked.
Despite his quarterback's nightmare performance against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Broncos coach John Fox is sticking with Tebow for at least another week.
Come on now, says WFAN's Boomer Esiason, it's time to give up on the experiment.
"This is a bad move for two reasons," Boomer said Monday, alongside morning show co-host Craig Carton. "One is, I don't believe that Tim Tebow knows what he's doing on the football field. ... Number two, those hits that are coming his way are coming with authority. Meaning that players are out to get him."

The Lions build a 42-point lead before Tebow's lone touchdown pass, all the while harassing the young passer with imitations of his signature prayerful pose. Boomer has never seen anything quite like it.
"The mocking by the Detroit Lions and all the talk after the game and all that other stuff leads me to believe that people are after him," he said.
Tebow was sacked seven, count 'em, seven times. That makes 13 sacks in three games. The hard hits (and the mocking gestures) aren't about to let up against the Raiders in Oakland's "Black Hole."
"In all the years that I've covered and played in professional football, I have never seen a team like the Detroit Lions do what they did last week," said Boomer. "It just means that there's no respect for Tim Tebow as the quarterback. And they want to make sure that when they play him, they want to show that to the world that Tim Tebow can not play in this league at this position."
The Broncos tried more of a collegiate approach against Detroit to adapt to Tebow's unique skill set.
It didn't work out so well.
According to Boomer, Fox should have dealt with Tebow, the legacy of fired head coach Josh McDaniels, before the season even started.
"They should have cut him," he said. "Let him be somebody else's problem."
