As expected, Carmelo Anthony will be opting out of his contract with the Knicks, thus making the perennial All-Star a free agent, a highly coveted free-agent at that.
That coupled with the United States playing Portugal to a draw in the World Cup gave the Dynamic Radio Duo that is Boomer & Carton their starting point for this compelling Monday morning radio program.
It was actually the World Cup action that captured the guys' attention early on, and for good reason. Despite the draw, the U.S. will take on Germany Thursday with all sorts of scenarios in which they can advance, the simplest being just beating the Germans.
Additionally we had some baseball, as Masahiro Tanaka was dealt his first loss in the Bronx by Buck Showalter's Baltimore Orioles, Suzyn Waldman had herself an emotional Old Timer's Day and the Mets belted out 17 hits in a win down in Miami.
