Jerry Recco knows where his bread is buttered.
He entered the Allstate Studio on Thursday morning with plans to "wow" with his well-prepared, informative and entertaining update -- and he nailed it.
First he talked about the Yankees' 9-5, 11-inning loss to the Red Sox. Jerry provided some John Sterling play-by-play and post game reactions courtesy of Joe Girardi and Dellin Betances.
The Mets were also losers Wednesday night, as the Phillies managed to grind out a 7-5 win after falling behind by five runs early. The Mets almost lost Yoenis Cespedes after he was hit with a pitch in the third inning, but tests came back negative and the slugging outfielder should be fine. In other injury news, Wilmer Flores left Wednesday's game with back stiffness and we learned that lefty Steven Matz has been scratched again.
Plus, Victor Cruz returned to Giants practice and promptly suffered a setback to his ailing calf, Eric Decker and Willie Colon are not likely to play when the Jets take on the Dolphins in London, Leonard Williams proves to sleep expert hired by the team that he will be just fine, Jerry has a cousin and Boomer does his best to get some preseason hockey results in there...
