Bomb Threat Sends Police To Boston's South Station Transportation Hub
BOSTON (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Boston responded Saturday to a bomb threat at the South Station transportation center Saturday, the day after the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect was captured.
Boston Police tweeted late Saturday morning that the bomb squad was responding to a bomb threat at the South Station transportation hub, which serves Amtrak, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and Boston Red Line subway trains, as well as bus service in a separate building.
Police cleared the building soon afterward. There were no reports of any bomb or danger.
The manhunt for Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev brought police to South Station Friday, and also shut down Amtrak service to the city.
Tsarnaev was captured Friday night. His older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police the night before.
They are accused of the bombings that killed three people and injured 176 in the Boston Marathon Monday, as well as a deadly shooting Thursday night that killed an MIT police officer.
