Boil-Water Advisory Remains In Monmouth County Following Major Water-Main Break
MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Thousands of residents in nearly two dozen Monmouth County municipalities remain under a boil-water advisory while crews continue to work on a major water-main break.
But officials reiterated on Sunday that the repairs will likely take several days to complete.
Roughly 185,000 residents overall in 22 towns are affected by the boil-water advisory, which will remain in effect indefinitely. County officials also are continuing a ban on outdoor water usage that was imposed after the break occurred Friday afternoon at New Jersey American Water Co.'s treatment plant at Swimming River Reservoir in Middletown Township.
Officials said that partial service should be restored within the next two days, but full service likely won't be restored until at least Wednesday.
The cause of the break remains under investigation.
