Boil water advisory still in effect in Hoboken, New Jersey as crews repair main break
A boil water advisory remains in effect for Hoboken, New Jersey on Wednesday. The advisory has been lifted for Jersey City.
The advisory was issued Tuesday after a water main break at 18th Street and Jersey Avenue on the border of the two cities.
Crews complete repairs to Hoboken-Jersey City water main
Wednesday, Veolia announced emergency repairs on the 36-inch main were complete, and crews were working to restore water pressure to impacted customers.
The utility advises any customers who have discolored water to flush their cold water taps until the water runs clear again.
Officials said the water main break was likely the result of a structural issue, adding most of the pipes in the area are at least 100 years old.
Along with residents, schools and businesses in the area were impacted by the break. Some schools opened late Tuesday, and some businesses were forced to close early.
