Body Found In Passaic River Likely Missing NJ Man
CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities believe a body found in the Passaic River this weekend is that of a Paterson man who went missing last month after being released from a northern New Jersey hospital.
But whether the body found Saturday in Clifton is 58-year-old Cedric Smith won't be known until an autopsy is performed Monday. Authorities also hope it will determine the cause of death.
Smith was last seen April 21, when he left St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. He was being treated there for seizures, and family members say he was planning to travel to Jamaica two days later.
Relatives were not initially concerned when Smith didn't come straight home because he appeared to be doing well in the hospital.
But they reported him missing when he didn't return home that night.
