A native of the city of Stamford, Bobby Valentine now has chosen a way to give back to the city.
When he is not broadcasting on ESPN, the former New York Mets manager will be overseeing the city's police, fire, and health departments.
The salary will be $10,000 a year, Valentine says he'll donate that to charity.
"To receive is wonderful, to give is divine, I guess," said Valentine. "...and sometimes I try to be g-dlike in what I give, but I run out of money."
Valentine explains that his ESPN job forbids him to take a salary from any outside source.
He's had prior experience overseeing the city's fire department and has eye to making it run more smoothly.
