LISTEN: Bobby Ojeda Chats With Francesa About 1986 Mets
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Bobby Ojeda, who helped pitch the Mets to the world championship in 1986, appeared as a guest on Mike Francesa's show Friday.
The 30th anniversary of that title is being celebrated this weekend at Citi Field. Many ex-players will be on hand for a pregame ceremony Saturday evening.
"It means the world to me, it really does," said Ojeda, the southpaw who won 18 games for the Mets in 1986. "Because these guys, we did something that was pretty cool for ourselves and pretty cool for this city and pretty cool for our families 30 years ago, which is ridiculous. But we've become those guys who played and won it 30 years ago, and we embraced it. But I'm just so excited to see these guys, because you know how it is -- all of a sudden, you throw us all together again, it's like, 'OK, we're 25.' The 30 years are gone. And it's a great feeling."
