Blumenthal Suggests Random Acts Of Kindness In Memory Of Sandy Hook Victims
NEWTOWN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- With the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) suggested random acts of kindness
As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, Blumenthal was among those at the firehouse in Newtown and at church services hours after the 20 first-graders and six teachers and administrators were shot and killed at the school.
The senator now suggests offering an act of kindness as one way to honor those who died.
"Buying a cup of coffee for someone, or making a charitable donation, or giving somebody a ride," Blumenthal said.
Such acts of kindness, said Blumenthal, send off a heartfelt wave that cannot be matched by speech or rhetoric.
Blumenthal said he himself will be carrying out acts of kindness in memory of the lives lost at Sandy Hook.
