Bloomberg, Miss Piggy Announce New Muppets Exhibit Coming To Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - The Muppets may have taken Manhattan, but they're getting a fancy new home in Queens.
Muppet creator Jim Henson's family is donating about 400 puppets, costumes, props and other items to the Museum of the Moving Image.
The museum plans to build a new gallery to house the new contributions. The city is chipping in $2.75 million toward the $5 million project.
As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, Mayor Michael Bloomberg shared the stage with Miss Piggy for the announcement Tuesday.
MISS PIGGY: "Oh yes, the moment you've been waiting for: His Honor meets Her Highness!"
MAYOR BLOOMBERG: "Yes, you should know that Ms. Piggy and I go back a long way. We even acted together in 'The Muppets Letters To Santa.'"
MISS PIGGY: "Yes you were wonderful, almost life-like."
BLOOMBERG: "It's kind of you, actually, to say so."

The donation also includes objects from other shows and films on which Henson worked, including ''Fraggle Rock'' and "The Dark Crystal.''
The Henson gallery is slated to open next year.
The 1984 film "The Muppets Take Manhattan'' depicted the fuzzy crew striving to stage a Broadway musical. Bloomberg noted that film was shot in Queens.
"And of course, right around the corner at Kaufman Astoria Studios even as we speak, Sesame Street is in production on its 44th season," Bloomberg said.
The museum is marking its 25th year.
