Blood Collection Workers On Strike At Red Cross In Connecticut
HARTFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - The American Red Cross is sending shipments of blood into Connecticut to help fill a gap left by a blood collection workers strike that began last week.

Spokesperson Donna Morrissey says the walkout has had an impact on the supply.
"The American Red Cross has contingency plans in place and we're bringing shipments of blood from around the country in to help meet the need during this work stoppage," she told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
In Connecticut, the Red Cross is urging donors to take a moment to give blood, especially now as the holidays set it.
Some workers have crossed the picket line, but about 150 workers remain off the job.
Gov. Dan Malloy has urged a cooling off period, asking workers to get back on the job.
