Authorities say the bear began wandering around at the Knickerbocker Country Club in Bergenfield.
A wildlife technician told 1010 WINS reporter Sonia Rincon that the bear is probably just about a year old.
Joe Kurz of Palisades Park followed the bear while snapping pictures.
"The bear was running through the water…then he got a garbage bag, laid down and got a little snack," Kurz told Rincon, "then he was off on the run again."
After a nap, he took off to Englewood and then to the Teaneck city line before heading back to the golf course, where officials from the state Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife were looking for the bear before abandoning their search late Sunday evening.
The incident is just the latest in a series of bear sightings in northern New Jersey over the last few months.
