NYPD: Cyclist Hit Driver In Face With Bike Lock During Heated Dispute
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 59-year-old driver was sent to the hospital after a dispute with a bicyclist got heated in Brooklyn.
According to police, the male victim got into a traffic dispute with a bicyclist while on McGuiness Boulevard between Meeker Avenue and Baynard Street in Greenpoint at around 7:45 p.m. Monday.
The suspect hit the victim's 2014 Prius with his bicycle lock before opening the driver's side door and hitting the victim in the face, police said. The victim and suspect then got caught in a struggle, where the victim was hit in the head several times with the bicycle lock.
After the dispute, the suspect left the scene, police said. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was treated for injures to his hand and head.
Police describe the suspect as 5'11" and weighing 170 pounds. He is believed to be between 22 and 35 years old.
