Best 2015 Holiday Concerts In New York City

The temperature is starting to drop and before you know it, holiday music will hit the radio waves. New York City's many holiday concerts will certainly get you into the spirit this year. From "A Charlie Brown Christmas" to the ionic Christmas Spectacular, you're sure to find something you'll love.

The New York Pops -- led by Steven Reineke -- are putting on a wonderful night of holiday music to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the television premiere of "A Charlie Brown Christmas." The event will also include a sing-along. The New York Pops began in 1983 and is New York's only professional orchestra to play popular music. The New York Ballet will be one of the many performers in this can't miss night of music.

Christmas is not complete without listening to Handel's "Messiah" at least once. The New York Philharmonic is putting on its annual performance of this holiday classic several nights in December. "Messiah" is an oratorio that was composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741. Tickets are between $33 and $122.

Mariah Carey will be back in New York this December for another dose of holiday fun straight from her Christmas catalog. Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" concert series will be hosted by the Beacon Theatre on Dec. 8, 9, 14, 15, and 17. "All I Want for Christmas" is Carey's best selling song and has sold 14 million copies. But that's not all the Christmas cheer you'll get at this concert as the songstress will sing hits from both her Christmas albums: 1994's Merry Christmas and 2010's Merry Christmas II You.

Tim Janis comes to Carnegie Hall for his annual "The American Christmas Carol" on Dec. 4. Sarah McLachlan, Zachary Levi and Loan Gruffudd will join him. The concert will also feature Montclair State University, The American Christmas Carol Choir, Cindy Cruse Ratcliff and more. An added bonus to attending this event is that the proceeds will go to Kate Winslet's Golden Hat Foundation for autism and the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, which gives music classes for free to under-served children.

Taking a trip to see the Rockettes at Radio City is arguably the number one thing to do during the holiday season in New York City. From Nov. 13 through Jan. 3, enjoy the full holiday experience in New York City, from the beloved wooden soldiers to a dazzling winter wonderland scene, with the long-limbed ladies of the Christmas Spectacular.
