Bergen County Blue Laws Suspended Due To State Of Emergency
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Gov. Chris Christie signed an executive order suspending the sales restrictions in Bergen County due to the state of emergency caused by Sandy.
All retail stores are typically closed on Sundays in Bergen County.
"During this time of recovery and rebuilding, our citizens must have adequate access to the supplies they need to help return their lives to normal – particularly those residents who are still without power," said Gov. Christie in a new release.
"To accomplish this, we are temporarily suspending Blue Laws in Bergen County so that local residents can purchase the essential goods and services they need to continue through recovery period and begin the rebuilding process," Christie said.
The even-odd gas rationing restrictions remain in effect in the Garden State.
