Bengals' Green: Giants Have 'A Lot Of Holes' On Defense

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Though much has been said about the Giants' slumping offense, their defense hasn't been so hot in recent games either.

Just ask Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green.

"I feel like they've got a lot of holes in their defense," Green told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Thursday.

Sure, that's some bulletin board fodder for Tom Coughlin & Co. ahead of Sunday's matchup in Cincinnati. But even the head coach characterized New York's defensive effort as "soft" after a 24-20 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 9.

"It was soft. It was soft, no question," said Coughlin. "It was soft early. ... We got mushed a little bit up front. Their big bodies knocked us back."

Green was quick to praise the Giants' defensive line, led by Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul.

"Their front four, they get so much pressure on the quarterback," he said. "A lot of people don't have that much time to get the big plays on them."

The explosive 24-year-old has 735 yards and eight touchdowns on the season. He'll be going up against a Giants defense ranked No. 25 in total yards allowed per game.

"We just have to be solid up front and then we'll see what happens," Green said.
